Georgia had a lot of enemies for centuries. When the country was in danger population together with the state’s greatest treasure ran to the mountains. Old Tbilisi – historical part of the city, covers suburbs which till 1936 were called “Tiflis”. Old Tbilisi covers following suburbs: Abanotubani – Kharpukhi (the same Tfilisi, Seidabad later), Kala, Isan-Avlabari, Sololaki, Mtatsminda, Vere, Ortachala, Chugureti, Didube, Nadzaladevi. Most sights are concentrated in Old Tbilisi, and therefore, the main tourist attraction center. Since 2007, Old Tbilisi is candidate of being included in the UNESCO World Heritage list.
Metekhi - The historic district on a high cliff overlooking on the banks of the Kura River. This area is particularly sacred for Georgians, because here was tortured for Christianity saint of Tbilisi - St. Abo Tbileli. Here were also tortured one hundred thousand people for faith, there is no other fact in the history of torturing so many people in one day for religion.
Narikhala - one of the most beautiful district of Old Tbilisi where are built fortresses of different era. The exact date and time of the prison building is unknown. However, its main prison already existed in the seventh century, and was called envy fortress. Archaeologists find remains of the city's ancient walls even today, throughout the prison complex.
Abanotubani - This is the place where, according to legend, was established Tbilisi. There's lots of sulfuric medical baths, but Colorful bath, still stands out for its beauty and Asian elegance. District is distinguished by its multi-ethnic. The architecture is unique, this site is paradise for painters with its variety of colors and beautiful landscapes.
Monastery of Jvari – Georgian monastery complex of 6th century, which is built near the merge of rivers Kura and Aragvi. It is built on the place where st.Nino put out the cross as a symbol of the victory of Christianity to Paganism. Jvari - the first cross-shaped architectural structure building in the world.
Svetitskholeli - a masterpiece of Georgian architecture. The first temple, which was erected after the adoption of Christianity. At first it was made of wood, in the 5th century stone church was erected on the site of the old one , which ruins are preserved. Finally, in the 11th century was built a cross-shaped Temple in the name of the Twelve Apostles Church. Catholicos of Kartli Melqisedek built a new temple on the place of old one. He invited Arsakidze as architecture . Construction began in 1010 and ended in 1029. Many holy things are kept in Svetitzkhoveli ,especially foot of saint Andria and of course priceless relics of Christianity - Christ's robe .

Armazi fortress - the ancient capital of Iberia 's main fortress . This castle is situated on Mount Bagineti , which is located on the right bank of the Kura , Aragvi . Nowadays Armazi fortress is open tourist destination, where you can view the archaeological excavation and it is quite possible to become a witness of great discoveries .
Ananuri - Feudal Age (XVI-XVII cc. ) a fort near Ananuri village. The castle was blocking the road coming from the north and the Ravine Residence belonged to Aragvi magistrates. The ensemble consists of an ensemble of secular , military and cultural buildings . The ensemble consists of a citadel and fortress from the bottom . The five-story tower was originally placed in the center of the ever present citadel (XIV-XV centuries. ) . East of the citadel is a small one-nave church (XVI-XVII cc. ) By locals called as "Healer". Since October 24, 2007 Fortress is included in UNESCO World Heritage Tentative list. Fortress with its panoramic views Zhinvali reservoir, seen from the edge of Jinvali has an unforgettable impression on the visitor.
Shatili – is brilliant and unique monument of Georgian architecture. This mountain village was home and fortress at the same time, he guarded over the centuries the northern frontiers. On 24 October 2007 Shatili was included in the UNESCO world heritage list.
Lebaiskari - Medieval Georgian monument. Therefore one of the samples of leaving towers of Tushet-khevsureti. Lebaiskari five-storey tower , the floors inside are connected with the portable wooden stairs . Lower floor is disposed for goods (gomuri). Above in the middle of the wall, there are four small balconies around the tower.
Mutso towers - today, in Mutso there are four combat castle - towers and several residential ruins preserved. Legendary Torgva castles and towers among them. Mutso is divided mainly into two parts, an upper section and a second relatively new Daiauri older Shetekauri District.
